Thanks to Adrian "Del-boy" Dalmedo, we have new carpet throughout the pavilion. Thanks also to Peter Hill Flooring, for coming down (and returning to) Walsall and working really hard to get it all down in a day! It looks great. This weekend will be a real test of its cleanability! Next up is to replace the windows which have clouded over the years!

1s, 2s and 3s all won. Shame the 4s could not complete the set, but regularly getting 4 teams out every Saturday and blooding more and more new colts is a worthy achievement. A top Saturday for the club. This was followed by an extraordinary President's Day on the Sunday. Despite the most appalling weather and no cricket actually being played, it was one of the best on record!

‚ÄčThe Aussies won the toss and elected to bat on a pretty flat Kew wicket. Although Kew fielded pretty well, some loose bowling allowed AH to get 226 all out. A reasonable target given the fast outfield and flat wicket. However, AH had picked 5 pretty sharp bowlers (1s/2s standard).

September 5th is SUPER SATURDAY!!!!

Come down to the club for the league season finale. The 1s poised for Div 1 glory, the 2s/3s to establish mid-table safety and the 4s to celebrate a superb 2nd half of the season.

With poor weather most of last week and a dodgy forecast for Saturday, it was always going to be tricky for the skippers. Nathan won the toss and stuck Marlow in. A top 5 for for Yax added Marlow to the growing list of teams to score under 100 against Kew 1s this season. It is now 5 in a row! Marlow's 93 was quickly polished off so that the boys could enjoy the footy. Kew are now 11 points clear of Wokingham, but the top 4 play each other Saturday! Kew at Chesham (4th) and Cookham Dean (3rd) at Wokingham (2nd). Any of the 4 could still be champs!

The 2s are still fighting hard to avoid relegation and had a resounding victory at Gerrards Cross last Saturday. Bobby T rolled back the years with a wily 6 for as GC were all out for 113. This total was knocked off in 28 overs for the loss of only 4 wkts. We now have a tough home match against table-toppers Marlow Park and hope Gerrards Cross do us a favour against Wooburn Narkovians.

The 3s travelled to fellow strugglers Boyne Hill. Venky put BH in and Sandhu and Gitesh had them struggling. But a few "new" players in the team came in to strike the ball hard and far and took BH to 209 for 7 in 50. A bit of rain and some early wickets knocked the 3s chase, but rearguard action in the mirk got us a draw (168-6). Last game is against relegated Hillingdon Manor.

The 4s ensured their survival in Div 8a with a 25 pointer against Cove Academy. Kew posted 141 on a very tricky Barnes pitch after being put in to bat. They then bowled Cove out for 116. Well done to Carter for his 4 wickets including a triple-wicket maiden!! The boys travel to Bagshot this Saturday. Enjoy!

Sizzler of a weekend for Kew CC! So close to a clean sweep on Saturday.
Magnificent 25 pointer for the 1s puts them at the top of Div1 with 2 to play (Marlow then Chesham). An unpleasant sticky wicket. Nathan scored a brave 55 out of 165 and then Kiddy blew Falkland away for 99. Well done boys!
The 3s produced an even better result with an unbelievable Houdini act against Chesham 3s. At 15-6 there seemed no hope. But Gitesh smacked his second ball for 6 and then birthday boy Andy Thorburn, stroked the ball around for a maiden century. Andy finished on 104 and Gitesh 52, to take Kew to 201. Venkat's boys then bowled out Chesham for 190!
The 4s are now very close to securing their status in Div 8a with a romping 9 wkt win at Eversley. After restricting the op to 129 (including a magnificent 5-over spell by our colt, Henry - 2 for 9! Matt "run machine" Thompson saw us home with a top 71 with another colt, Lloyd, hitting the winning runs.
It was another so near so far for the 2s. Scoring 221 at Sonning looked to be enough, but Sonning scraped home with a ball and a wicket to spare. Congrats to Kunal for another 5 wkt haul.
Sunday was a rain-affected affair. Tea was taken before the game which was restricted to 30 overs each. Our last-minute oppo, Weybridge Vandals, brought a strong team (incl 4 1st XI players) and smacked a daunting 192. Well done to Dexter, for probing away and getting their overseas pro - what a stunning catch by Kiddy at cover. Kiddy bowled venomously and Shaky and the Rev were sometimes hard to get away. Bergy Jnr was neat and tidy behind the stumps with a catch, a stumping and a single bye. Stukers smacked a couple of 4s, tweaked his hammy and then was out and the 1st over was not yet finished! Being a bit short on fireworks, we finished 40 short. Highlight was Bergy Jnr scoring his maiden 50 for the seniors and carrying his bat through to the end!
